Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate
Class of 2020
Trace Bareck was born in Chicago, Illinois, and received a B.S. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He fostered a passion for technological innovation after completing a computer science course at the university and has followed new developments in the realm ever since.
During his first year at Chicago-Kent he declared his intent to pursue the Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate. He interned at Fulcrum GT the following summer as a product manager where he oversaw the creation and deployment of a cross-platform edtech app called Jolt. While the Jolt development team is currently optimizing the app for classroom demos, Trace is consulting directors of Chicagoland schools to secure classrooms for the beta-testing of the application.
Although he has broad interests in legal innovation and business law, his background in economics and passion for technology has drawn him to blockchain and smart contract applications. By taking advantage of the resources and opportunities provided by the Chicago-Kent Law Lab, he recently learned the basics of smart contract coding language, Solidity, at an Ethereum Developer Forum. After completing Legal Analytics and Practice and Professionalism, Trace will next take Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and Law and Legal Project Management and Process Improvement.
